Denise Warren is the Founder and CEO of Steps Back Into Society, Inc., a nonprofit committed to empowering returning citizens through mentorship, resources, and pathways to successful reintegration.
My Story
Through personal life experiences, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges formerly incarcerated individuals face when reentering society. I have seen these struggles through close friends, a family member, and through my long-term relationship with my partner. These experiences opened my eyes to the barriers returning citizens face, including difficulty finding employment, stable housing, and access to support systems needed for long-term success.
Seeing these challenges up close showed me how easily individuals can feel discouraged, isolated, and unsupported after release — even when they are determined to change their lives. I realized that many people returning home simply need guidance, resources, and someone who believes in their ability to succeed.
These experiences inspired me to create Steps Back Into Society, an organization dedicated to helping returning citizens rebuild their lives with dignity, structure, and opportunity. My goal is to help remove barriers, provide real support, and help individuals successfully transition back into their communities.
I believe everyone deserves a second chance and the opportunity to become productive, valued members of society.
